Thank you
The cat is looking at me with black eyes telling me to get off his blog already.
But I wanted to thank every one of you for your comments and emails over the last couple of days. Everyone's support, warmth and advice has been very helpful. It's valuable to hear about others' experiences with hyperthyroidism, the treatments their cats have undergone, and especially the outcomes.
I should really compile some of your observations in a blog post titled Hyperthyroidism Treatment for Cats - so that people searching for support can find this info in one place. I may.
Estorbo has taken his first two pill doses with no problem. Although he takes pills readily from me (I've had a lot of practise with a certain vicious-when-pilled Efrican Blek-footed Ket, RIP), we decided to put each half pill in a treat, so that he can be pilled by others in case we are not here; also to make it less stressful. So far so good.
Now we watch for adverse reactions - intense face-scratching, vomiting, lethargy. Hopefully they do not appear.
In the meantime he has a question for you. We discovered this this morning on his foot.
"Whad the forgh happen' to my bag food (seee peecture aborf)???".
We think we know, but do you?

Is that where the Ebil Ved stole Bluds?
ReplyDeleteThat's where they listen to his blood pressure with the doppler.
ReplyDeleteWell, if they took Estorbo's fur without his consent, then the vet techs clearly deserved all the black ninja-ness Estorbo dished out--and then some! Estorbo should visit again, without an appointment, and put a hurtin' on them.
ReplyDeleteEstrobo, you are going to be okay.
If it has to do with blood pressure, I am glad they didn't take it on your tail. Especially if they would have had to shave it.
ReplyDeleteI think it is part of the boo-boo from the scary night on the roop. The under part of the pad healed and the damaged part fell off.
ReplyDeleteOOps I take that back, (face palm). It's a shaved patch, good for taking blood pressure?
ReplyDeleteLooks like where they shaved his foot to take his blood pressure. At least, that's what the human says. And Mrs. Estorbo's Wooman, I'm glad you've had practice pilling the Small Bleck-footed Efrican ket, such a fierce little beauty she was. Pilling the hermano will be easy, especially with treats!
ReplyDeleteAnother reason you should have some special treats...like feesh or butter. Or maybe just more kisses from the Wooman and your papa. I loved the photos of you at the doctor. You looked so calm and brave.
ReplyDeletewe thought you had neebled off the furs, but it's such an even patch, and not a good spot for stealing blud, so porrothecat must be correct that it's for listening to your blood pressure.
ReplyDeleteWhen our Sussa-kat neededd pills we would make a little ball of Redro (anchovy spread) which she just gobbled up.
ReplyDeleteOf course later that meant that she came running any time anyone wanted to make an anchovy toastie :-)
I just saw your post and thought you might like to read about my cat, Maverick.

He went through treatment for this!
Blessings to you friend!

This is from Coco, your fellow Cobble Hill roof cat. I am so happy to see the photos of you back on the roof from the human's blog.
ReplyDeleteYou are my hero; a proud, beautiful cat prowling freely "On a Rooftop in Brooklyn." If only our roofs were connected...

I have read your fan mail and I wish I had fan mail like that. Go for it Kitty Boy - you have many cockroaches to crunch. My vet loves me too and says I make his day when I visit. I smile.
ReplyDeleteAwww I have been gone for just a little while and I've missed on so much! Happy that things seem to be okay for our Don for now at least. He is so lucky to have a "woman" like you for a mom! I really hope we meet in the flesh some day soon given I'm in NYC toO! Would love nothing more than to meet you and the Don!
ReplyDeleteTry pill pockets! They are treats with a hollowed out center. You put the pill inside and then mush the end closed.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like his back winkie pad has turned into a nose! La nariz, madre de dios. The paw now resembles a face.
ReplyDeleteglad things are getting better, wishing you long days of roof hunting and much catnip

Late arrival here from 7MSN. We have a cat who'd been on the tapazole pills for a long time and one day decided she'd had enough and wouldn't take it anymore. We switched to the ear gel and it's been great. Very easy to use and I think it helps that it's not going into her tummy.
ReplyDeleteI am late with my comments re feline hyperthyroidism....
ReplyDeleteMy Toby was diagnosed with the disease two years ago. He took the meds for the last two years of his life.
I lost him in April. He was my kitty companion for 18 years & I am grateful for my vets care & empathy in helping him stay comfortable & reasonably healthy until the end of his long life.
Hope you have the same results with Estorbo.
I've heard good things about the ear gel too, but none of my cats have needed it. The pill pockets are very handy to use and some of my cats love them, some not so much.
ReplyDeleteFeel better, Don Estorbo!
