Kehdi 1993 - 11/02/2009

Frarm the Wooman:

Very sad news from Cape Town today. My mom called, a couple of hours after landing, to say that she asked my dad to take Kehdi to the vet, to be put to sleep. Kehdi has been frail for a long time, but eating. She had lost her sight a while ago. She did not recognize or respond to my mom at all when she returned home today from her trip to New York, and it was very clear that her physical condition was not one in which she could continue to live with any comfort. When I can, I will write a more fitting tribute to this wonderful little talking cat. She was small, but unforgettable. My poor mom couldn't be with Kehdi these last two weeks, and I know that she was very worried about her, and knew this decision was not far off. But so soon? This is not good news to come home to.

If any of her admirers would like to send a note to Kehdi's Ma, I will send the mail address. Please email Estorbo at estorboloco(@)gmail(dot)com.

  2. awww sweet little Kehdi.... such huge eyes.... but, it is so much kinder to let them go than it is to prolong their lives with no real quality. Lately I have seen too many trying to keep their little furry friends alive far too long ... I shed tears for the little guys.

I still wish we could have our human family and friends kindly and gently put to sleep when it is time...instead of forcing them to endure as much as is required by law before they finally get to close their eyes at last....

  4. I'm so sorry about Kehdi. Poor little old kitty lady. And so difficult for your mother because i know she's been worrying and thinking about Kehdi while she was away, and now to have to make this difficult decision so soon is hard. Warm thoughts and purrs to all.

  5. BumbleVee, I am with you. As hard as it is to part with our beloved pets, our ultimate gift of compassion is a blessing, for sure.

And sweet wishes to Kehdi as she finds her way through the veil between this world and the next...

  7. Keli'i here: Oh no ... we are heartbroken to hear that Miss Kehdi had to leave her wonderful family. She was a beautiful little lady, so full of personality ... you could see that in her sweet face. Ikaika is beside himself after hearing the news. We just lost our Tabbygail two weeks ago; she reminded us so much of your little Kehdi.

Ikaika and I send gentle purrs and comforting thoughts to your Mom and Dad and to Kehdi's brother, Khamel. Helping Kehdi on her last journey was the kindest and most loving thing your parents could have done for her.

Run free across the Rainbow Bridge, sweet Kehdi ...

  8. So sorry to hear about Kehdi. I love the video. She is so cute -- and clever. You realize of course that when she meowed twice to all the double digit numbers she was right! She was counting digits. My love to Kehdi's Mom. Hope you have recovered from your traumatic experience, Storbie.
